Looking for an easy at-home way to FIX SCRATCHED CDs - anyone out there know something that works?

I have been told try a hair dryer, wipe it with pledge, use a car buffer ... any other tips that anyone has actually used that has worked would be appreciated!

Hi mustanglynnie,

Trust me on this - it works.

Go to a hardware store and buy a can of "Brasso" brass polish.

Pour a generous amount on the disk and rub across (not around) the disk with a folded paper towel pressing VERY hard.

Wash thoroughly in warm (not hot) water with dish washing detergent. Pat dry with a paper towel.

That should fix it but repeat the process if necessary.

I have had pretty good success repairing scratched sounds by uploading the scratched CD onto the computer. Of course you will have to burn it back onto a blank CD, but the sound quality is good. This will not work with extremely deep scratches. It is intended more for scratches that occurred over time.
