My Conair hairdryer just blew up in our faces while I was drying my daughter's hair?

What do you think? Anything I can do about it? I don't recall where I bought it, and there was no harm done other than perhaps a new-found fear of blowdrying. :)

There was a huge flash and the cord is almost completely blown off of the dryer.

I would contact Conair by email or telephone and explain to them what happened. They might have had a recall on the dryer that you were unaware of. Who knows, they may even offer you a new one!

sounds like a law suit to me. That sounds very horrifying to me. I probably would never use a hair dryer ever again.

You really don't have a basis for a lawsuit unless you had physical injuries caused by a defect in the product. Hair dryers don't last forever and maybe it was just worn out.

Contact the manufacturer and explain the circumstances. As another person pointed out, there might be a recall for the product and often times the company might send you some type of compensation as a good will gesture. But beyond that, I would say leave it be and buy a new one.

how old was it? within a year of purchase it should be covered by the manufacturers warranty. write them and complain, bad publicity (like on here) is terrible for a company :)

I have never had that happen, but I have had some other blowdryer mishaps before. A few years ago, my blowdryer had a shortage inside, and it caught on fire. No real damage was done; it just kinda freaked me out.

Then about a year ago, my hair was sucked into the back-end of the blowdryer. I had to cut it to get it out. That really sucked.

But if I were you, I would just write Conair a complaint and maybe they will send you a new one. If you get a chance, request an ionic one. They're great!
